Catchman Double Narwhal - Raku Fired Ceramic Sculpture
Catchman Double Narwhal - Raku Fired Ceramic Sculpture
Raku Rayguns are one-of-a-kind ceramic sculptures made by West Magoon. They are inspired by alien technology unearthed at a secret UFO crash site, known only to a tribe of Wyoming Hill People. Each raygun is named after a science fiction author, character or device.
This raygun features a crackled blue blown-glass orb in the sighting scope and two barrels, twisted like narwhal tusks. This raygun is also equipped with twin suppressors, each of which sport a clear, crackled glass electrode inside.
The Raku Rayguns are sized for the human hand. This one measures about 15" long by 10 1/2" tall. Each Raku Raygun comes with a ceramic moon crater plaque wall mount. The gun rests on brass hooks embedded in the plaque which provide a sturdy support. The plaque has an attached wire on the back, for hanging on the wall.
The visual roots that inspire these sculptures include sci-fi magazine covers from the 30's,40's and 50's, the styling cues from 50's automobiles, and design elements from Art Deco and Art Nouveau which contribute to the Steampunk flavor of the Raku Rayguns.
The last photo is from the film (inspired by the comic book) that this raygun pays homage to. To learn more please visit this web page: http://www.hollywoodcomics.com/forestbbd.html
